Welcome to the 'Pearl of Africa'

Welcome to Uganda, the ‘Pearl of Africa’! On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will find your Savannah Wings representative waiting to greet you. They will then drive you to your accommodation for the night a short distance away. Here you’ll be able to relax and sleep before you begin your safari tomorrow.

Tonight's Accommodation - The Boma, Entebbe town.

Day 1 - Murchison Falls National Park

After breakfast you’ll be driven 20km north to Kajjansi airstrip, to board your private aircraft and fly to the to the savannah plains of Murchison Falls NP, a 1hr 30min flight. You’ll land inside the park at your lodge on the banks of the River Nile, with a stunning vista of rapids tumbling into the savannah and sound of hippos calling out across the water. At dusk take a game drive with your expert wildlife guides. They’ll help you to seek out a wide range of species including lions, leopards, giraffes, buffalos and elephants. Then return to dinner at your lodge and enjoy the evening under the star-laden skies and the calls of the African savannah.

Day 2 - River Nile Boat Safari

Take a leisurely start to the day to enjoy the lodge facilities including the infinity pool, spa and fully equipped gym. By mid morning drive to the heart of the park stopping at Paraa Lodge for lunch. Close by are the docks from which you’ll be embarking on a private boat cruise to Murchison Falls. Meander upstream to the thundering base of the falls, passing giant Nile crocodiles, hippo pods, and a plethora of birdlife inhabiting the riverbanks. On reaching the waterfalls, either return downstream by boat to your lodge or follow the trail up to the top of the falls. Here you can marvel at the splash and rainbows of the Nile crashing through a seven-metre gap in the rock face before being driven to your lodge for dinner.

Day 3 - Rolling Savannah Plains

The pace of today is in your hands, relax at Bakers Lodge first or leave early for a game drive, following in the footsteps of Emin Pasha, Winston Churchill, Ernest Hemingway and Theodore Roosevelt to discover the savannah plains of Murchison Falls NP. Early morning light will provide excellent photo opportunities and usually plenty of animal activity before the heat of the day sets in. With an expert ranger seek out elephants, leopards, lions, warthogs, giraffes and large game herds including buffalos, Uganda kobs and waterbucks. You can spend as long as you please exploring the various game circuits until you return to your lodge. Complete the day by cruising on the Nile and enjoy some refreshments as you meander along the river and the sun disappears behind the Blue Mountains of Congo on the horizon.

Day 4 - Victoria Nile Delta

Walk down to the lodge’s private dock for a final trip on the river Nile. Breakfast will be prepared and served on board as you pass elephants, crocodiles and hippo pods. You can either cruise to the base of Murchison Falls where you can spend the morning sport fishing to try and catch species such as Nile perch and various species of catfish or cruise downstream to the Victoria Nile delta. The delta is particularly known as the habitat of the iconic Shoebill, listed by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) as ‘vulnerable’, which with experienced guides you will try to spot. You will then take to the skies and fly to the wilderness of Kidepo Valley NP, a 1hr 15min flight. This is Uganda’s best-preserved savannah landscape and the countries last home to cheetahs and ostriches, which can be found here roaming the African bush. On reaching your lodge in the Narus Valley, you will find an oasis of luxury in the ruggedness of Uganda’s northernmost wild lands. In the late afternoon drive out onto the rolling savannah on a short game drive to spot giraffes, elephants and zebras before stopping off at a secluded spot for refreshments as your watch the sunset light up the African bush.

Day 5 - Night Game Driving

Explore the savannah, ringed by mountains on the horizons in the Narus Valley. The parks wildlife diversity is the best-preserved in Uganda and its remoteness gives the feel that you’re the only people there. As you explore with your expert ranger, look out for a host of species such as lions, leopards, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, eland, oribi and elephants before returning to your lodge for a leisurely lunch. While away the afternoon at your lodge until dusk and head back into the wilds on a nocturnal game drive. This is the perfect way to view the secret lives of the wildlife. Along with your expert ranger seek out a variety of wildlife including hyenas, leopards, serval and pangolin before returning to your lodge to sleep to the sounds of the African bush.

Day 6 - Walking in the Wilderness

Relax over breakfast from the lodge veranda with views over the waterhole frequented by warthog, zebra and antelope. Enjoy a dip in the infinity pool with views spreading across the grasslands and wildlife to the mountains rising along the horizon. This afternoon you’ll be trekking out onto the savannah plains with a knowledgeable ranger to get an peaceful view of the widlife. When exploring the savannah plains on foot you’ll experince a much more intimate connection with the wildlife with out the confinds of your vehcile. As you walk through the African bush you’ll be seeking species such as giraffe, zebra and oribi as they graze on the rolling grassland of Narus Valley before returning to your lodge for the evening.

Day 7 - Ostriches and Cheetahs

Rise early to take an extensive game drive out into the parks northern sector. Drive over the seasonally dry Kidepo River bed to the northern edge of the park which runs along the South Sudanese border. Here you’ll search the savannah scrub for a variety of wildlife but particularly for the cheetahs and flocks of ostriches found in the region. Your time will be in your hands and you can spend as long as you wish exploring the African bush before returning back to your lodge in the heart of the Narus Valley the remainder of the day.

Day 8 - Returning Home

Drive to a secluded spot for a bush breakfast so you can relax in the peace and absorb the tranquillity of the savannah. You can then opt for a final game drive through the Narus Valley or return to your lodge. This afternoon make the return flight back to Kajjansi airstrip, a 2hr flight away, where your Savannah Wings representative will be waiting to take you to your accommodation. You’ll be provided with a day room to prepare you for your flight home this evening. Before dinner and your flight, drive down to the lakeshores for a boat cruise around the inlets and bays, with light refreshments served to you as you watch the sunset over Lake Victoria.

Bakers Lodge

This exclusive eco friendly lodge perched on the banks of the River Nile and provides a thatched central lounge, bar and dining area which is raised with wooden decks all around allowing guests to savor the morning sunrise for breakfast, sunset in the evening and 180 degree river views.
